Cup Foods

Cup Foods is the location of the horrific incident that took place in Minneapolis against George Floyd. Here, thousands gathered and mourned the death of George Floyd while also setting up food tents and cultural art expos/festivities. Multiple leaders from the local area and around the nation came to speak their words remorse for the public.

Downtown

As the events began to evolve over the course of a few days, protesters took their message to the streets of downtown Minneapolis. Thousands marched and chanted “No Justice No Peace” which became a trademark of the movement around the nation. Among the thousands of protestors were other activists speaking out about other forms injustice. These ranged from native oppression, LGBTQ+ rights, marijuana legalization, and more.

The 3rd Precinct

A day that seemingly began with nothing more than public speakers and activists at Cup Foods picked up enough momentum citywide as thousands more gathered together on I-35W, blocking off traffic and intersections to enter the city. They marched down to the 3rd precinct which was being burnt down by rioters in the area. A powerful moment as a line of protestors stood with their fists raised high backlit by the flames of the burning precinct.
